Adult dogs need adaptation:

The dog may have a complicated past or even bring bad habits. With patience and affection, you will make each other, but adopting an adult dog is not synonymous with having all the work done.

Appearance is not the most important thing: 

Many people adopt their dog because it is cute, because it is a fashionable breed, or because it is small. But what really needs to be looked at is the character of the animal. For example, there are large dog breeds, such as greyhounds, that are great to be in an apartment, and other small breeds, such as pinchers, that can be a real problem due to their excess energy.
